The effects of breast of cancer can be devastating and most of us know someone who has been affected as the number of patients diagnosed continues to increase.
Whilst the initial diagnosis is hard to accept, many women have shared that one of the greatest challenges is the thought losing their hair during treatment as it takes away part of their identity.
Thankfully a new scalp cooling technology has provided some relief to this process, showing great signs of reducing hair loss when used during treatment and we want to ensure women have access to this service free of charge.
We want to provide this service to women seeking treatment at the Maroondah Hospital, forming part of a bigger redevelopment from Eastern Health that will also include a research project on the physical and emotional impact for patients.
How the funds will be used
Our aim is to provide this service free of charge with the money raised going to the purchase of the machine, the staff training to use the machine and to assist in the development of a report to uncover the effects of Breast cancer diagnosis.
What makes this project special
This machine will empower and provide some relief to women who are facing the challenge of their life. Reducing the likeliness of hair loss during treatment will ensure that women have some control over their illness.
